BEING BRAVE

Creating a culture of high performance by leveraging the science of bravery.

The Fact:

True growth and success come from embracing discomfort.

Whether it’s personal happiness or professional success, everything desirable lies on the other side of hard. Overcoming difficult, uncomfortable challenges requires bravery, and the rewards are immense—an unparalleled sense of accomplishment, significant impact, and the pride of achieving something truly challenging.

The Challenge:

Many people avoid discomfort and challenges.

Many people remain in their comfort zones, seeking safety and instant gratification, thinking this will lead to happiness. This leads to playing it safe, lower performance, and reduced job satisfaction. The fear of stepping into discomfort may be holding many back from extraordinary success, fulfillment and happiness. This is where brave self-leadership comes in.

The Solution:

Developing Brave Self-Leadership Skills.

The Being Brave Method is an evidence-based self-leadership model that empowers individuals to push past their limits, embrace challenges, and elevate their success, happiness, and well-being.

High performance starts with bravery.

Jill brings science-backed strategies to help individuals and teams push limits and achieve more.

ABOUT

MEET JILL SCHULMAN

The official line: I’m a former U.S. Marine Corps Officer, leadership development expert, and founder of Breakthrough Leadership Group. I’ve dedicated my career to studying the science of bravery, resilience, and peak performance, drawing on disciplines such as psychology, neuroscience, and behavioral science. My work merges the academic rigor of research with practical tools that help individuals and teams increase their performance, resilience and well-being. My upcoming book, The Science of Bravery, is the culmination of years of exploration, offering evidence-based strategies for increasing bravery by developing a courageous mindset, taking bold actions, and building brave relationships.

Translation: I help people do hard things—and love it.

The bottom line: I believe bravery is the foundation of a life well-lived, and that means doing things that scare the heck out of us—every day. Growth only happens outside the comfort zone, so…embrace the suck. My motto is “Courage over regret,” and I’m passionate about empowering others to create the life they truly want and stop letting fear hold them back.

I bring a unique blend of grit and curiosity to everything I do. Whether it’s translating groundbreaking research into actionable steps or tackling life’s challenges head-on, I believe joy and discipline go hand in hand. The world needs more grit, less fluff, and a lot fewer excuses. Start with the hard stuff first—it’s always the way to go. Outside of work, I’m hiking the trails of Southern California, laughing over dinner with my husband of 20+ years and our two amazing daughters, or attempting to out-squat yesterday’s workout at the gym. When I’m not pushing limits, you’ll find me reading Stoic philosophy, diving into the latest research, or plotting my next bold challenge.
